The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation is the only Charity in the world
wholly dedicated to defeating lung cancer

Lung Cancer Research

By the time the majority of people are diagnosed with lung cancer, it is often so far advanced that
it is untreatable. Our research aims to detect lung cancer at its earliest stage, so that it can be prevented
from developing or can be successfully treated.

Patient Care network

Recognising the devastating effect on all lung cancer patients when they are told their cancer is
inoperable, the Foundation developed a framework to support patients and their families.
This service provides:

-
Access to lung cancer nurses who provide specialist information about the disease and different types
of treatment, as well as advice and support.

-
Patient support groups have been established around the UK to provide help and advice for
lung cancer patients and/or their families.

-
A range of leaflets and booklets have been produced, and these are available free of charge, to all
lung cancer patients, to ensure they understand what is happening to them and their likely prognosis.
A free telephone helpline is also available: 0800 358 7200.

Tobacco Awareness

- Roy Castle Fag Ends group provides support within the community for people who are trying to stop
smoking, cut down or continue to stop. They also provide leaflets containing useful information and
handy tips on quitting smoking.

-
The Roy Castle Kids Against Tobacco Smoke (KATS) programme is designed to educate and inform
children about the dangers of smoking. For more information visit the website: www.roycastle.org/kats

-
The National Clean Air Award is the first UK-wide scheme that rewards employers who implement
effective workplace no-smoking policies by giving them a prestigious, nationally recognised award.
The award also provides guidance to employers to help them get their no-smoking policy right.

We need 'your' help

The Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation receives no government funding towards its research programmes
and therefore relies totally on the support of charitable trusts, individuals and organisations.

Roy Castle courageously devoted the last 12 months of his life to raising awareness of
lung cancer and fundraising for the charity which later took his name.

With 'your' help we can defeat lung cancer and save some 30,000 lives a year.
